Last year I didn’t do a top 10 of the year but this year I have done more shoots and I think it might be nice to do reactivate this again.
So hold on tight for my top 10 images of 2024. The order of the images does not say anything about the ranking. I like them all and present them in no particular order.
To all models I had the pleasure of shooting with this year I want to express my utmost gratitude. Thank you all so much for collaborating with me this year. If you did not make it to this top 10 don’t despair. This doesn’t say anything about you as a model. This top 10 is about me as a photographer, my personal feelings about the images, and the progress that I have made.
The order in which I discuss the images have nothing to do with a ranking of them. I just like them all enough to present them here to you.
Cidaq – Peacock darkness
I had planned a studioshoot with Cidaq For a peacock feather theme. I had a bit more of a moody shot in mind. However Cidaq had done a great preparation for the concept and took it a few steps further. I adjusted my lighting setup and we had a blast with a dark and moody peacock feather shoot. I like the fact that the darkness and moodiness completely contradicts the beauty and softness of of the peacock feathers. And this came out beautifully as well in a different way.

Berlinda – Crying out
I have done a lot of great shoots with Berlinda and this one was no exception. This image came out in a fantastic way. We had a shoot about tied emotions. You know: the feelings locked inside of you behind that ‘poker face’. For me this image spoke the most about feeling yourself desperate and small in a big an dark world.

Linda Powerful
This was the first time that I collaborated with Linda. We did a guitar themed shoot. Linda did a great job modelling and I love the images that came from this shoot.
This particular image was in color on my new post on this website but this time I selected the black and white variant.
You can find the news post about this shoot here: Fine-art guitar shoot with Linda.
Paula – Hat with dreamy rimlights
Paula had a shoot with a big hat on her wishlist. I liked the concept and we planned a shoot together. I set up the lights and we started shooting.
I love the graphic vibe in this images. All these curvy lines in the hat, the rimlights and the extra shape formed by the pearls all make it very graphic.

Jessica – Beauty in peacock colors
This image is an image of my first photoshoot with Jessica. We did some different kind of images during the shoot of that day but some how this one resonates with me.
I love the soft pose and gaze of Jessica in combination with these beautiful colors.

Angelique – Covered in butterflies
I did not write a news message about this image because it was a single image that we created after another shoot. But I do think it is a great image and I selected it for my top 10 of 2024 anyhow.
So let’s write a bit about it now. This image is a composite of multiple images with this butterfly. The end result is converted to a fine-art look and color grading.
Ramona – Diva
For my Pure-ink project I had a photoshoot with Ramona. After shooting the pure-ink images we shot some fine-art images as well. This is one of these images. Ramona is a great character and takes cool poses. I love this image.

Hilde – The loss of Passyfleur
This shoot was a tough one. Emotionally speaking I mean. It was the first time Hilde and I did a photoshoot together. We chose a horse lady theme and this is one of the results.
For those who wonder: the emotion and tears are real. This image shouts sadness and grief. But somehow it is subdued and beautiful as well.
If you want to know the story behind this image you can read that on the news page about that shoot here: Horselady shoot with Hilde.
Lyam077 – Collar – Hero
With Lyam077 I did this collar shoot in fine-art style. Despite the ‘simple’. prop we used I think it is a very powerful image. So that is why this image made it to my top 10 of the year 2024.

Jenneke – Classy Lady
This is one of that spur in the moment things. And that on a day with all kind of obstacles. That day we had a pin-up shoot planned. I remember that when we were about to start shooting that a power outage occurred. Since most of my studio lighting is AC-powered we had a challenge. So I needed to change the lighting setup to something with battery powered flashes only. After half an hour the power came back on and I needed to reinstall and the pin-up lighting setup (which consists of 4 or 5 lights).
Anyway. After the pin-up shoot we took another half hour to do some fine-art images and this one rolled out.
I love the classy way that Jenneke poses and her look into the camera. The combination of the purple with the sage colored backdrop is a great match too.
Check out this shoot at: Fine-art portraits with Jenneke.
All in all I think this top 10 summarises some of the highlights of 2024. Of course there were more cool shoots but I had to pick some of them. And now it’s time to prepare for 2025.
